Writing a Happy Ending

I stumbled upon the most beautiful scarf the other day and it gave me inspiration for this party theme. I thought it would be such a beautiful choice to celebrate literature and a love of books as a wedding theme. With a few simple searches I found that others have had many similar thoughts and so here is a collection of those ideas and my recommendation for pulling it all together into the perfect love of literature.

Every celebration must begin with the invitation. From simple invites with a classic book publisher theme to a more elaborate, perhaps hand-delivered selection. I adore these choices.

And while I am a huge lover of fresh flowers, there's something so perfectly beautiful about this book-et. Perhaps for the bridesmaids while the bride carries a perfect pop of color in a fresh floral bouquet?

Incorporate readings from your favorite novel or writer in the ceremony or on the wedding programs or menus. I love this passage:

From Now We Are Six by A.A. Milne

A soul mate is someone who has locks that fit our keys, and keys to fit our locks. When we feel safe enough to open the locks, our truest selves step out and we can be completely and honestly who we are; we can be loved for who we are and not for who we're pretending to be. Each unveils the best part of the other. No matter what else goes wrong around us, with that one person we're safe in our own paradise. Our soul mate is someone who shares our deepest longings, our sense of direction. When we're two balloons, and together our direction is up, chances are we've found the right person. Our soul mate is the one who makes life come to life.

I love the simplicity of this table while still making an impact. Find some inexpensive books at your local thrift store or the garage sale on the corner and assemble with a little bit of love and glue.

Share your favorite novel with your guests. Include names of your bridal party on the library card attached or write a personal note on the inside cover. They'll think of you every time they pick it up.

And of course, the inspiration for this entire affair. The perfect scarf. Dress it up on your honeymoon or cuddle up on your farewell from the reception. And wear again and again and again while you enjoy Your Happy Ending.
